Jennifer & John's wedding - St Simon's, Glasgow & Harburn House, West Lothian
Jennifer & John’s wedding had everything we love – vintage glamour, an abundance of style, heartfelt emotion, lots of laughter, and even a surprise performance by a certain troupe of Irish dancers!
The day began at Jennifer’s parents’ house. Prepare to fall in love…
Just look at these gorgeous Emmy shoes.
Jennifer’s Grecian-style dress was by Barcelona bridal designer Pronovias. And the soft hues in her bouquet were perfectly in keeping with the vintage feel to the day. Jennifer looked radiant… And her dad was, understandably, very proud. P.S. How much do we love Jennifer’s Jenny Packham headpiece?
Both families were very close. It’s always a privilege to share in and capture moments like these. Over at St Simon’s, all the finishing touches were in place. We love the older style typeface! And John was looking fantastic too… Such a beautiful bride…
The ceremony was conducted by Father Jim Lawlor, who had the guests in stitches with tales of his Vatican aspirations! Aside from the jokes, it was a beautiful and very sincere ceremony. Jennifer and John are doctors, and Fr Jim summed it up perfectly when he said how much respect he has for the incredible work they, and their colleagues in the medical profession, do. Love this moment! Just as we arrived at Harburn House the rain stopped and suddenly the sun came out – perfect timing! Jennifer, John and their families had put so much thought, time and energy into decorating the reception venue. With a jazz band playing and lots of lovely nostalgic touches, it was the perfect setting for an afternoon party. Jennifer & John spent months scouring second hand shops for these cups and saucers. We never seem to find any this nice when we look! The incredible floral displays in the marquee were created by the two families, with a little help from friends. And they even brought in the Chesterfield sofas, to create a relaxing little snug for the guests. Seriously, these guys thought of everything – and everyone was very glad that they did!
Jennifer’s dad made a very poignant and beautiful speech. There was hardly a dry eye in the room when he described her as a jewel in their lives.
Best man, Ally’s World Cup-themed speech went down a treat! Then it was time for Jennifer and John to get the party started… One of Jennifer’s relatives from Ireland performed a very moving song. The Irish theme continued, with surprise performances from some very talented young dancers. Then, in the biggest surprise of the night, one of the guests had arranged for dancers from Lord of the Dance to perform for Jennifer and John. The atmosphere in the room was electric when they came out… All the guests were blown away, and Jennifer’s reaction was priceless! Inspired, everyone hit the dancefloor with renewed vigour… And we have a feeling the party probably continued into the very small hours…
Jennifer & John – We loved the time and effort you put into creating a day that your guests would remember forever. You are a wonderful couple and it was an absolute privilege to photograph your special day!
